Wisetek Solutions UK has officially opened its new operations centre in Reading, Berkshire, the company carries out IT asset disposal, data destruction, technology reuse and manufacturing services, for several multinational organisations in the London and surrounding areas.

“London is the second most connected place for technology in the world after Silicon Valley,” said Wisetek’s CEO Sean Sheehan at the opening.  “The UK technology sector is growing almost three times as fast as the overall economy.

“As Wisetek expands across the globe, it is a logical step for the company to enter the market. Wisetek’s expansion into the United Kingdom is a strategic decision to bring our data destruction and IT asset disposal operations to the thriving tech industry and business community in Britain,” Sheehan continued.

Paul Britton, CEO at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, commented: “We welcome the addition of Wisetek to the region and the growing cluster of IP-rich, technology-based firms choosing the Thames Valley.  Their investment reaffirms the proven strength of the region for new, high growth, investors.  Working in collaboration with our partners, the Department for International Trade, we were pleased to help Wisetek with their company set-up, providing access to sector experts, support and regional networks.”

Dennis Frize, an experienced IT asset end-of-life solutions architect, will head up the organisation as managing director of Wisetek UK: “I am delighted to lead Wisetek’s expansion in introducing the strategic benefits of circular economy processes to the UK market,” said Frize. “The greater Reading, Berkshire area is a hub for technology and our new facility will serve as a springboard to service our existing and new clients in the UK and across Europe.”

The UK government recently announced a new circular economy strategy to combat the UK’s waste problem. By the end of 2020, the Government will consult on changing the waste electrical & electronic equipment (WEEE) initiative to incentivise more sustainable product design from producers and to increase recycling.  The outcomes will affect technology producers and businesses, and Wisetek UK believes that there are several measures that both Reading-based and all UK businesses should consider ensuring a more cost effective, secure and sustainable IT procurement and disposal strategy in 2019 and beyond.
