TMGcore’s new data centre platform offers immersion cooling to Dell EMC server

TMGcore recently announced that it had partnered with Jabil to speed up manufacture of its new data centre platform, but that’s not the only company it’s partnering with. That’s because TMGcore is also partnering with Dell so that its first-of-its-kind data centre platform can effectively cool the Dell EMC PowerEdge C3140 series.

The TMGcore data centre platform utilises immersion cooling to keep the Dell EMC PowerEdge C3140 at an optimal temperature, meaning energy usage should be lower than air-cooled environments. Of course, we’ve seen immersion systems in the past, but TMGcore is promising something special when it announces the new platform at Supercomputing 2019 on November 18.

“Traditionally, data centre platforms run in air-cooled environments that require a significant amount of power and air conditioning within the facility,” said John-David Enright, CEO of TMGcore.

“However, companies are looking to be more environmentally friendly and reduce the amount of power consumption within their data center operations. We have developed a line of data centre platforms that feature an immersion environment for the servers, and we are proud to introduce the products to the market with one customized for Dell Technologies servers.”

By allowing the high-density, accelerator-optimised server to run in an immersed environment, TMGCore says that it can offer its customers a solution that offers 35% more processing power than a traditional data centre.

“We’ve seen demand for solutions that can help organizations reduce their data center power consumption,” said Ron Pugh, vice president and general manager, Dell Technologies OEM | Embedded & Edge Solutions.

“Our team adapted the Dell EMC PowerEdge C4140 for submersion in order for TMGcore to offer a unique solution that diminishes the environmental impact, like lowering cooling costs, without decreasing processing power.”
