Property owner and fund manager Areim has closed its Nordic data centre fund, with €446 million in capital from investors.

According to a statement, the fund will be used to drive sustainability within the data centre sector via Sweden’s EcoDataCenter, which the company owns.

“The capital will enable us to execute our strategy of delivering more sustainable data centre services to clients and to become a leading data centre company in the Nordics,” said Dan Andersson, CEO of EcoDataCenter.

EcoDataCenter, a supplier of sustainable data centres, aims to drive the green transition in the digital infrastructure sector. EcoDataCenter 1 in Falun, Sweden, was opened in 2019, and the company recently announced the development of a new data centre campus in Sweden for further growth.

“We see an increased interest in the data centre sector in the Nordics, supported by the strong digitalisation trend but also by the attractive characteristics of the Nordic market,” said Therese Norling, Fund Manager at Areim.

“With our newly established fund, we have the opportunity to support the green transition within the industry, through EcoDataCenter, to meet society’s needs today and in the future.”
