At DCR Live 2026, we caught up with Oliver Sanders, DC Commercial Sales Director at Carrier QuantumLeap, about the pressures shaping the UK data centre sector – and what needs to change if the industry is to scale both quickly and responsibly.

During the conversation, Oliver explored some of the biggest challenges facing operators today, from access to power and the demands of AI and high-performance computing, to the need for more efficient cooling strategies across both new-build and existing facilities.

Oliver also touched on many of the key challenges that were discussed throughout the day during the main sessions of DCR Live 2026. That included the need for the industry to engage more openly with the public to build the trust it needs for future growth – something many of the day’s attendees agreed upon.
