Vertiv has unveiled the new Vertiv Liebert PDX-PAM, a direct expansion cooling unit utilising low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, R513A.
The new unit is now available across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and is designed to offer data centres an eco-friendly cooling option that complies with the stringent EU F-Gas Regulation 2024/573, aiding in the reduction of carbon emissions.
According to Vertiv, the use of R513A refrigerant ensures a reduction in GWP by up to 70% compared to traditional R410A refrigerant, while also eliminating the need for additional safety devices required by units using flammable refrigerants.
“In an era where efficiency and reliability are paramount, we recognise the urgent need for eco-friendly alternatives to stay ahead of regulatory requirements and provide our customers with state-of-the-art innovations,” said Karsten Winther, President of Vertiv in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
The Liebert PDX-PAM units range from 10 kW to 80 kW and offer a variety of airflow configurations and options, making them suitable for a wide range of data centre sizes, from small to medium, including edge computing applications and UPS and battery rooms.
An integrated iCOM controller enhances the unit’s operation by allowing complete modulation of performance, adapting to changing conditions and managing heat load effectively.
The introduction of the Liebert PDX-PAM is part of Vertiv’s ongoing efforts to advance cooling technology and meet the increasing demands for environmentally responsible cooling solutions.
