Nscale has raised $1.1 billion in Series B funding, which it says is the largest such round in UK and European history, to accelerate the rollout of AI data centre capacity and GPU-based compute across Europe, North America and the Middle East.
Aker ASA led the round, with continued support from existing shareholders, including Sandton Capital, and participation from Blue Owl Managed Funds, Dell, Fidelity Management & Research Company, G Squared, Nokia, Nvidia, Point72 and T.Capital.
Headquartered in the UK, Nscale describes itself as an AI-native infrastructure platform spanning compute, networking, storage, managed software and AI services delivered from Nscale-owned and colocated data centres. It is targeting surging enterprise demand for GPUs and says its European footprint leverages low-cost renewable power and regulatory alignment. Current projects range from large hubs in Norway to smaller metro clusters for latency-sensitive workloads.
What the funding supports
Nscale says the capital from its Series B funding round will speed the deployment of its ‘AI factory’ data centres, including Stargate UK on the firm’s AI Campus in Loughton and Stargate Norway, and expand its vertically integrated AI cloud platform. The company also points to a multi-billion-dollar agreement with Microsoft to deliver AI infrastructure in Narvik, Norway, and a plan to deepen its relationship with Dell Technologies in support of sovereign AI efforts in Europe.
Alongside physical build-out, Nscale cites product work across the AI stack, including a fine-tuning service, advanced inference APIs, an AI Studio, orchestration tools and private cloud enhancements.
