Stellanor expands to 11 UK data centres with Imagination Technologies deal

Stellanor has acquired a data centre in Hemel Hempstead from Imagination Technologies, in a deal that takes the operator to 11 facilities across the UK.

Under the sale-and-service-back arrangement, Imagination Technologies will continue to operate from the site as a fully-managed Stellanor client. The facility was built to support demanding digital infrastructure workloads, including those linked to GPU and AI chip design.

The acquisition gives Stellanor a larger foothold in the UK’s regional data centre market at a time when operators are increasingly trying to position themselves around both enterprise resilience and rising AI demand. According to the company, the expanded platform now totals 39 MVA of secured grid capacity.

“This acquisition demonstrates the quality of infrastructure and tenants we’re attracting,” said Michael Tobin, Chairman of the Board, Stellanor.

“Imagination Technologies is exactly the type of blue-chip technology company we are looking to serve – enterprises with demanding digital infrastructure requirements – from AI and high-performance computing to core enterprise applications and business-critical workloads – that need urban proximity and institutional-grade infrastructure.

“Their decision to continue operating from this facility as a Stellanor client reiterates our strategy to combine investment in growth and improvement of facilities with operational excellence to serve organisations where they actually operate.

“We’re building a differentiated platform in the UK market with the scale and capability to deliver AI-ready infrastructure around the corner from our clients’ operations. While AI is a fast-growing driver, the majority of enterprise demand continues to come from organisations seeking resilience, well connected infrastructure close to their operations.”

Imagination Technologies, which develops GPU and AI semiconductor IP, said the deal would allow it to maintain operational resilience while remaining focused on its core business.

“As a global semiconductor IP company, our focus is on delivering high-performance, power-efficient GPU and AI technologies that enable our partners to build next-generation products,” noted Markus Mosen, Chief Executive Officer of Imagination Technologies.

“At the same time, maintaining operational resilience across our infrastructure is critical to supporting continuous innovation. Our partnership with Stellanor strengthens this foundation, ensuring we have the robust, scalable environments needed to support our teams while enabling us to remain agile and focused on advancing our core technologies.”

The Hemel Hempstead acquisition also adds to what has been a fast expansion period for Stellanor. The company launched in September 2025 with two London facilities acquired from Colt Technology Services, and is also in the process of completing its acquisition of Redcentric’s eight UK data centres.

If that deal closes as expected in the coming months, Stellanor’s footprint will include sites in London, Reading, Cambridge, Woking, Gatwick, West Yorkshire and now Hemel Hempstead. That brings the company’s footprint in the UK up to 11 data centres.
