Power continues to be one of the most visible constraints on data centre growth, so we caught up with Barry Jarvis, Commercial Director at Riello UPS, at DCR Live 2026 to get his view on how the industry can combat the problem. 

While access to power continues to get the limelight, Barry also highlighted the need to plan carefully around the availability of critical infrastructure, from transformers and UPS systems to generators and wider on-site backup power.

The conversation also looks at the role of retrofits and upgrades in meeting future demand, with Barry outlining how advances in UPS efficiency, reduced equipment footprints and newer battery technologies can help operators unlock more capacity from existing facilities.
