Colt DCS appoints David Burton as Chief Information Officer

Colt Data Centre Services has appointed David Burton as its new Chief Information Officer, as the company looks to strengthen its technology and security operations.

In the role, Burton will be responsible for leading Colt DCS’ global technology and security teams, as well as shaping the company’s wider technology strategy. That will include supporting the development of secure and scalable digital platforms as the data centre operator continues to grow.

Burton joins Colt DCS from Global Switch Data Centres, where he served as Group Director of Information. During his time with the company, he led its digital strategy, worked to strengthen its cyber security posture, and helped deliver technology capabilities to support business growth.

His appointment comes as data centre operators are under growing pressure to ensure their internal technology platforms can keep pace with the wider demands being placed on the sector. With AI, hyperscale deployments and global customer requirements all placing greater strain on operators, the resilience and security of digital infrastructure has become increasingly important.

Colt DCS said Burton brings more than 25 years of global technology leadership experience to the role, including work across cloud computing, virtualisation, global IT service management, R&D and consumer goods.

While much of the focus in the data centre sector remains on power availability, planning and physical capacity, operators are also having to invest heavily in the systems that sit behind those facilities. That includes everything from cyber security and service management to the platforms needed to support customers operating at global scale.

Quy Nguyen, Acting CEO and Chief Sales Officer, commented, “We are delighted to welcome David to Colt DCS at such a pivotal time in our growth. His proven track record in leading complex, global technology organisations, combined with his deep expertise in digital transformation and cybersecurity, makes him the ideal leader to drive our next phase of innovation. I’m confident he will play a key role in strengthening our platform and delivering long-term value for our customers.”
