Vertiv has announced plans to expand its manufacturing and testing operations in Ireland, which includes a 7,000 square metre extension to its Letterkenny facility that could create up to 300 new jobs.
The company’s proposals come as it looks for additional manufacturing capacity so that it can continue to support the ever-growing demand for AI, colocation and hyperscale data centre projects.
That demand has led to wider supply chain constraints throughout the industry, as companies clamour to get the gear they need for their new data centre projects. While that has led to higher prices for equipment like the chipsets that power the AI servers found in those data centres, many other companies have announced plans to scale their manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand.
Vertiv has already scaled its operations in Ireland, with the company having taken on more than 500 employees across its facilities in the country since the beginning of 2026. With its latest expansion in Letterkenny, it’s hoping to add another 300 jobs.
The new roles are expected to include engineering and operational positions, with the additional workforce supporting the production of power, cooling and industrialised infrastructure systems used in data centres and other critical facilities.
This is just the latest major expansion for Vertiv in Ireland in the last few years, however. In 2023, the company announced an investment in a new manufacturing facility in Campsie, Derry/Londonderry, which was expected to create around 200 skilled jobs and support growing demand for its data centre infrastructure products.

As demand for critical digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, we are helping customers to deploy AI and data centre capacity worldwide. The expected extension, together with continued recruitment across our facilities, is part of our ongoing actions to support continued growth, while creating opportunities for skills development and career growth across the region.”
The proposed Letterkenny project is being supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, although it will first need to secure the necessary planning permission from Donegal County Council.
