ST Telemedia Global Data Centres will team up with Schneider Electric and Iceotope to conduct an immersion liquid cooling proof-of-concept (POC) in Singapore.
The POC aims to develop liquid cooling technology to help reduce both power and water consumption, as well as future-proof next-gen data centre builds.
The POC will make use of Iceotope’s chassis-level precision immersion technology which uses dielectric liquid as a heat transfer medium. According to Iceotope, using the dielectric fluid as a cooling medium instead of air provides higher thermal transfer capacity and improved efficiency.
The use of liquid cooling technology could reduce the reliance on energy-hungry components of the cooling ecosystem, such as chillers and computer room air-conditioning (CRACs) units.

This initiative by STT GDC comes in the wake of the unveiling of their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, developed to align with the framework set out in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). The group has committed to achieving carbon-neutral data centre operations by 2030. Currently, 43% of STT GDC’s electricity consumption is derived from zero-carbon renewable sources.
