Pure DC secures $780m to fund data centre expansion across Europe, Middle East

Pure Data Centres Group has secured a $780 million financing facility to support new data centre developments and site acquisitions across Europe and the Middle East.

The Oaktree-backed company says the new Platform Growth Facility includes an option to increase borrowing by a further $1.1 billion, potentially taking the total to approximately $1.9 billion.

Unlike financing secured against individual data centre campuses, the new facility is intended to support Pure DC’s wider development pipeline, giving the company greater flexibility to acquire sites and progress new projects.

That flexibility is particularly important to Pure DC’s expansion strategy, which prioritises locations where sufficient electricity capacity can be secured. The company is targeting sites capable of supporting large-scale AI training campuses, alongside smaller facilities designed for inference workloads and its existing hyperscale cloud operations.

The financing brings three additional lenders into the facility, with Citigroup Global Markets, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Infranity joining ABN AMRO, Allianz Global Investors and SMBC.

Mike Schwartz, Chief Financial Officer at Pure DC, commented, “This facility strengthens our corporate funding base, complements the financing we arrange for individual campuses and provides a framework to raise additional capital as our pipeline advances.”

Building on previous financing

The announcement follows a series of substantial financing agreements secured by Pure DC throughout 2026.

In May, the company secured $2.7 billion in financing, including a $2.15 billion facility backed by its Dublin and Amsterdam campuses. That agreement also saw its corporate-level financing facility increased to $550 million.

Pure DC subsequently secured a further €1.3 billion of committed senior debt in July to support the first phase of its Seinäjoki AI campus in Finland.

The Finnish development provides an indication of the scale of the company’s expansion plans. Its first phase is expected to deliver 110MW of IT capacity, backed by investment exceeding €1.5 billion. Pure DC says the initial phase is fully leased, with planning permission and power already secured. And that’s just the first phase, the wider campus could eventually exceed 550MW.

Pure DC says it has arranged more than $6.2 billion in financing over the past 12 months, but as to where it will be spending all that cash – it’s yet to fully set out.
