Vertiv has completed its acquisition of US-based PurgeRite in a deal worth around $1 billion, expanding its liquid cooling services offering.
The company said the PurgeRite will enhance its thermal management services capabilities and strengthen its position in what it calls the ‘thermal chain’ for liquid cooling systems.
“We are excited to officially welcome PurgeRite to Vertiv, expanding to deepen our fluid management services capabilities,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv.
“PurgeRite’s specialised expertise in fluid management services complements our existing portfolio and enhances our ability to provide end-to-end product and service support for customers’ high-density computing and AI applications where efficient thermal management is critical to performance and reliability.”
Liquid cooling under the spotlight
High-performance computing and AI-heavy data centres are increasingly turning to liquid cooling technologies to cope with escalating rack densities, you can read more about that in one of our many recent trend reports on cooling. But essentially, the shift to liquid cooling brings with it a greater focus on what happens inside the pipework, with clean, stable coolant loops becoming as important as the cooling hardware itself.
According to Vertiv, ensuring maximum cooling performance starts at commissioning, with ultra-clean, air-free and chemically stable coolant, and continues throughout the life of the system as operators work to preserve that balance. Poor fluid quality can compromise heat transfer, undermine equipment efficiency and increase the risk of unplanned downtime.
By integrating PurgeRite’s specialist services into its existing portfolio, Vertiv says customers should see benefits such as improved system performance through better heat transfer and equipment efficiency, reduced operational risk, and the ability to support global operations with more consistent service delivery.
