CyrusOne appoints new chief information officer

CyrusOne has promoted industry veteran Bill Williams to chief information officer.

Formerly vice president of Network Services, Williams has helped transform the company’s technology offerings, including establishing CyrusOne’s IX and connectivity capabilities since joining the company in 2012.

As one of the leading IP network experts in the country with more than 20 years of experience, Williams has worked with various layers of the network, including Cisco, Juniper, Lucent, Nortel, Force 10, and Brocade.

“Bill’s leadership and foresight in bringing our IX and connectivity offerings to life is one example of why he is a great fit for the role of Chief Information Officer,” said Kevin Timmons, CTO, CyrusOne.

“Bill and his team will help our customers continue to push the envelope on next-generation cloud connectivity to power this exciting global digital era that is reshaping our world.

“We are only in the early innings of this digital era and Bill’s vision and ability to execute on his goals will help our team and our global network of customers stay ahead of the curve.”

Prior to joining CyrusOne in 2012, Williams most recently served as vice president of IP infrastructure for Terremark Worldwide, where he was responsible for the global IP network infrastructure teams, including IP transit, peering, and hosting/cloud/data centre platforms.

He was also an IP architect for Terremark for nine years. Prior to joining Terremark, he served in engineering roles for QoS Networks, AduroNet, Madge Networks, and Direct Container Line.

“The fourth industrial revolution has flipped the business and technology world on its head over the past few years. Since I joined CyrusOne in 2012, we have constantly stayed ahead of the curve by adapting our offerings for the creators, disruptors, and visionaries at the Fortune 1000 who have fuelled this era of digital transformation,” said Williams.

“I am proud to have played a role in our technology journey, and as part of this new role I am excited to help ensure our new cloud connectivity platform is the latest chapter in our continuing effort to ensure our security and connectivity services are setting the pace for the industry.“

“As we look towards the future, we are focusing on implementing new machine learning platforms to grow our IT systems, while always keeping in mind our crucial role in helping our customers adapt and win in this global economy.”
