As data processing demands surge, and data centres face new sustainability requirements and regulations, cooling these critical facilities is creating new challenges.
The dynamic nature of data centre workloads demands adaptable cooling infrastructure, while the cooling needs of edge and modular data centres further underscore the importance of flexibility.
Approaching future cooling demands flexibly will allow data centres to adapt cooling strategies, utilising renewable energy sources when available and optimising energy consumption to minimise environmental impact. It also enables data centres to deploy diverse technologies tailored to workload requirements.
Next month, a panel of experts will take a deep dive into these issues during a session exploring flexible cooling solutions.
Steering the discussion is Moderator John Booth, known for his role as reviewer for the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres (Energy Efficiency) programme and his work with the Certified Energy Efficiency Data Centre Award and Data Centre Alliance Certification. John is also the chair of the Data Centre Alliance’s Energy Efficiency and member of the sustainability steering group.
He will be joined by pannellists:
Max Schulze. Max is Founder of the SDIA. With a background as a software engineer and a cloud expert, Max brings his experience in measuring the digital economy’s footprint and advancing the SDIA’s roadmap towards making it sustainable and future-proof.
Nick Barrett. Nick is Data Centre Immersion Cooling & EV Battery Senior Engineer at bp, with over a decade of experience under his belt working with EV batteries and immersion cooling technologies.
Jonas Gustafsson. Jonas is Senior Researcher at RISE, with a background of working as an Assistant Professor at EISLAB, Luleå University of Technology and Operations Manager at SICS North Swedish ICT AB, where he worked setting up and running a data centre for research purposes.
