nVent has agreed to acquire Maverick Power for $1.75 billion, expanding the portfolio of products it can offer in the data centre space. 

The deal will give nVent a broader range of low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards and integrated modular power systems – equipment used to control and distribute electricity through data centre infrastructure.

The $1.75 billion purchase price could rise by a further $550 million if Maverick meets certain performance targets in 2027 and 2028, taking the potential total consideration to $2.3 billion. The acquisition is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions.

For nVent, the acquisition represents a sizable extension of a data centre business that is already growing rapidly.

The company reported sales of $1.47 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 53% year-on-year, while its infrastructure business more than doubled. nVent said data centre demand was a major contributor to that growth, alongside demand from power utilities.

That growth has already prompted investment elsewhere in its portfolio. In July, nVent announced another 160,000 sq ft manufacturing facility for data centre liquid cooling in Minnesota, its third expansion in three years and taking the additional manufacturing space announced over that period above 400,000 sq ft.

nVent has also bolstered its product line-up, with new entries to both its liquid cooling and rack-level power portfolio announced last year. It also partnered with Siemens to develop joint power and cooling reference architecture for NVIDIA AI infrastructure, which is an increasingly attractive prospective for data centre operators.

Now, with the Maverick deal, it’s pushing that strategy further into facility-level electrical distribution. As higher-density AI workloads place new demands on data centre power architectures, Maverick brings power distribution units for high-density infrastructure alongside switchgear used to distribute and protect critical electrical loads.
