Achieving net zero is no mean feat, while at the same time, being one of the most urgent – and buzzworthy – challenges facing us in the near and distant future.
According to the International Energy Agency, data centres and data transmission networks are reportedly responsible for nearly 1% of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. If gone unchecked, this would only increase due to the world’s ever-growing consumption of data. Data centres need to reduce their carbon footprint – and at pace.
But that’s easier said than done, especially as there’s not currently much to go on in terms of sustainability guidelines and regulation, and many data centre owners and operators are still in the early stages of figuring out their sustainability strategies.
At Critical Insight next month, Jon Healy, Keysource’s Operations Director will be asking, can we gather pace on the road to net zero carbon emissions?
He will explore how measuring and managing carbon needs to form part of a holistic development process, in particular for data centres – and how facilities can go about achieving this.
With a background in engineering and extensive experience in the data centre and critical environment industry, Jon has led a range of award-winning solutions and services for a host of companies, from global enterprises to major government organisations.
Don’t miss Jon’s talk at Critical Insight 2022, set to take place on 22-23 November.
