Scala Data Centers has inaugurated the second phase of its Tamboré Campus in São Paulo, the largest in Latin America.

This phase will provide an extra 158 MW of IT capacity, across two buildings already in operation – SGRUTB08 and SGRUTB12 – and three buildings currently under construction – SGRUTB09, SGRUTB10, and SGRUTB67. These latest buildings are scheduled to be operational in 2025, with anchor clients in place.

Once the second phase of construction is complete, the campus will feature six data centres in operation and another four under construction, offering more than 200 MW in total. Scala plans for the campus to host 17 buildings and three power substations with a total capacity of 600 MW upon completion of the entire site.

The new buildings have been designed to support AI/ML and accommodate high-density demands, allowing for densities ranging from 24kW per rack up to 100kW per rack.

The campus maintaions a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) below 1.4 and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) of zero, as well as utilising 100% renewable energy sources.

“This is only the beginning of what the country can achieve. The demand for data centres is growing seven to ten times with the rise of artificial intelligence, positioning us not only to serve the local market but also to export data centre solutions, helping to solve global challenges, especially in North America. I am very proud to be in São Paulo, in Barueri, with this project, reaffirming our commitment to continue investing and enabling progress in our nation and the region,” said Marcos Peigo, CEO and Co-founder of Scala.
