Nvidia has confirmed that hackers have stolen employee credentials and some company data after a cyberattack last week.

In a statement on its website, Nvidia stated, “We are aware that the threat actor took employee passwords and some Nvidia proprietary information from our systems and has begun leaking it online.”

The company claims it was alerted to the incident on 23 February, and is now investigating the information that was leaked, although does not expect any disruption to its service.

Despite speculation that the incident may have been related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Nvidia has said, “We have no evidence of ransomware being deployed on the Nvidia environment or that this is related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.”

“Lapsus$”, the group maintaining it was responsible for the attack, has claimed that it has stolen 1 TB of data which includes information about schematics, drivers and firmware, and other company information. The group has threatened to leak the data unless the Nvidia pays a ransom in cryptocurrency.
