Data centre, managed cloud and cyber security solutions provider Lunar Digital has signed a 15-year lease with CapitaLand Ascendas REIT for Reynolds House in Manchester Technology Park.

The site, which was previously leased by Equinix, comprises two data centres – Lunar 1 and Lunar 2 – which offer tier II and tier III colocation options through over 20 carriers, including the company’s own Lunar Connect network.

According to a statement by Lunar Digital, the company is set to invest a seven-figure sum in the modernisation of the site over the coming years, increasing its performance and energy efficiency.

Lunar Digital will also see the installation of its new ‘Lunar Cloud’ at the facility. The cloud platform is a scalable, multi-tenanted cloud solution “incorporating the flexibility and pay-as-you-go features of a public cloud with the industry’s leading security to provide the safest, simplest cloud solution for companies across Manchester.”

Lunar Digital CEO Rob Garbutt said, “We are delighted to have this opportunity to invest in the region we call home. Modernising the data centres in Manchester, and installing Lunar Cloud, will help local businesses run more smoothly and efficiently, and promote growth in the North West.”

In addition to the company’s new facilities in Manchester, Lunar Digital’s portfolio also includes its Lunar 3 data centre in Manchester and its Lunar 4 data centre in Gaupne, Norway, which is powered by 100% renewable electricity from a local hydro-electric power plant.
