Proweb becomes first customer at Host-IT’s Birmingham data centre

Host-IT has announced that Proweb is the first customer at its colocation data centre in Birmingham.

The facility, which was opened last month, will provide backup and disaster recovery (DR) support for Proweb’s main IT stack, located at its Nottingham headquarters.

Proweb, an internet services provider (ISP), recently completed a technology refresh and review of its colocation requirements, which led to its move to Host-IT’s facility.

Richard Drage, Managing Director of Proweb said, “From our first contact with Host-IT, the whole onboarding process was executed flawlessly. Their team invested considerable time and effort in understanding our requirement ensuring when we went to site to install our IT equipment everything was set up and ready to go. It only took 15 minutes to install the equipment and for it to go live.”

Host-IT’s Birmingham facility is located at Proximity Data Centres’ Tier III central Birmingham campus. The site currently has 6 MW of IT power available with the potential to increase to 12 MW.

Andrew Willis, Managing Director of Host-IT, added, “In selecting Host-IT’s newly opened datacentre in Birmingham, Proweb can be assured of the very best data centre services and connectivity for meeting their backup and DR needs.

“We are delighted to have won our first customer for our Birmingham data centre so quickly. This reaffirms our recent decision to expand Host-IT’s data centre footprint beyond Milton Keynes and we expect to open more sites later this year and next as demand for rack space and server leasing continues to grow.”
