Global Technical Realty (GTR) has acquired its first data centre development site near Barcelona, Spain.

Located on Parc de l’Alba in Cerdanyola del Valldataès, the 15,000 sqm plot has the potential to accommodate a new 16 MW IT load facility. The site is located within the Cerdanyola data centre cluster, providing access to subsea cable systems and interconnection points in the region.

GTR was launched in 2020 by global investment firm KKR and data centre entrepreneur Franek Sodzawiczny. The company is currently developing GB One in the UK and IS One in Israel.

“Barcelona is the fifth largest metropolitan area in the EU and has the largest economy by GDP on the Mediterranean Sea,” said Franek Sodzawiczny, Founder and CEO at Global Technical Realty.

“The data centre market there is set to grow rapidly. We plan to provide a data centre that will service cloud requirements in a highly secure facility, utilising renewable energy sources. We are excited to become a part of this bustling community.”
